LYO president urges expanded roles for youth and young adults
Faison asks for 10 percent representation at next assembly

Nicolette Faison, 17, newly elected president of the Lutheran Youth Organization (see "Shaped by 'Jesus, Justice, Jazz'"), encourages the assembly to adopt constitutional amendments providing for expanded roles for youth and young adults throughout the ELCA.

caption“We are hoping that you will vote for at least 10 percent of voting members at the 2011 Churchwide Assembly to be youth and young adults,” she said.

Voting members passed (714-207) the two amendments that state this goal, following considerable discussion.
