Campus ministry approaches evangelism boldly

Basically we're just being Jesus Christ where we are," confesses Deb Grant, a pastor at Peace Lutheran Church, College Station, Texas. Grant's ministry serves students at Texas A.& M. University, and she is one of the original 11 campus pastors to develop a new evangelism approach called "More Boldly."

The pastors attended a 1992 gathering sponsored by the ELCA Department for Campus Ministry where the approach evolved. Inspired, Grant went home to form an evangelism task force. Things happened. She said students began to call and invite others to attend worship and fellowship events. Attendance doubled. "Students are proud of the ministry, and they like each other and invite their friends."
