Shelter gets boost

New Life Children’s Center is one year and $163,000 closer to constructing a 20-bed dormitory for abused, neglected and troubled girls in San Antonio. If matched, the challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation will put the Lutheran Social Services of the South Inc. facility within $100,000 from the target budget for expansion at New Life, which serves girls 11 to 17 with a history of multiple psychiatric hospitalizations.
