Thanks to donations from the ELCA , the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe’s hospital supply shelves are full and patients and medical staff no longer faint from hunger, said Benyam A. Kassahun of ELCA Global Mission. In 2008, Lutheran donations bought food, seed and medicine for people in Zimbabwe, Kassahun said, adding that the ELCA is currently releasing $600,000 to help the church’s four hospitals remain open.
