Health plan rates held down

Meeting July 31-Aug. 1, the ELCA Board of Pensions board of trustees approved holding health plan contribution rate increases for sponsored members to an average of 2 percent in 2010 (national average is 6 to 8 percent). The board moved to a wellness plan in 2008 and provides resources to help members improve their health. Brad Joern, the pension board’s director of health products, said that model is one factor in helping to keep the rate increases lower.
