John's gift of skating

Just 5 years old, John Zimmerman was leaving a crowded shopping mall late one day when he turned to his mother and asked, "Why do I have to skate all the time?"

Without hesitating, Norma Zimmerman told him, "God gives each of us gifts and if we don't use them, we may not get another one."

John, 27, never again took his gift for granted, which since has resulted in a slew of titles, including three first-place finishes in the Nationals for pairs figure skating and a fourth place in the 1998 Olympics.
