Stitching together hobbies

The Stitchery Group of Lord of Life Lutheran Church , St. Simons Island, Ga., began almost by accident. New member Renee Evenson Balka was meeting with her congregational sponsor, Chris Elbert, when they began discussing hobbies, discovering their shared joy of crocheting, knitting and sewing. Thus began the Stitchery Group, which creates blankets and quilts for a local crisis center, newborn hats sent to Africa, stocking caps for school-age children in Nepal and book bags for Lutheran World Relief.
