Tax-exempt in Tanzania

Tanzania’s government promised to retain tax exemptions for religious organizations after considerable lobbying by leaders of Muslim groups, Lutheran and other Christian churches.

In related news, Tanzanian officials said they hope to find ways of ending scandals and deceptions around tax exemptions, by forming a task force of leaders from the government, faith groups and nongovernmental organizations.
