Cameroon to ordain women

At its June 3-7 General Synod in Bankim, Cameroon, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon voted by a wide margin to ordain women.

The 250,000-member church also approved an episcopal framework for ministry (a move away from the presidential system), electing church president Thomas Nyiwe as its first bishop.
