Southern Baptists aging

After LifeWay researchers warned that the Southern Baptist Convention could lose half its members by 2050, denominational leaders met in June and called for a turnaround of dropping baptism rates.

At the meeting, Southern Baptist President Johnny Hunt warned against being “Laodicean,” or lukewarm, about faith and said the denomination is “aging.”

In other business, leaders voted to break ties with Broadway Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas, for “welcoming gays.”
