At Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Welcome, N.C., members are “going green” — outside the fellowship hall.
Frankie Sisk and Frankie Mefford added to a 1974 garden created in response to Sisk’s 16-year-old son’s death.
John Beeg, pastor, said a garden is “a biblical symbol of hope.”
Mefford said she wanted people to feel free to walk in the garden, rather than stand and look at it.
She and Sisk created a path in the shape of an icthus, the Greek symbol for fish.
