Shoeless Sunday

Robert L. Helton, a pastor of Living Springs Lutheran, Columbia, S.C., shows a few of more than 400 pairs of shoes donated to Soles4Souls by the congregation.

Robert L. Helton, a pastor of Living Worshipers left their soles at the altar on June 7.

As part of National Barefoot Sunday by the Soles4Souls organization, the shoes will be shipped throughout the world.

Sturdy ones will go to people who have none and dress shoes to those trying to re-enter the workforce.

A visitor who didn’t know about the drive even left her shoes on the altar and went home shoeless, Helton said.
