RCA drops magazine

Two years after scrapping a subsidy for the Church Herald, the 166,000-member Reformed Church in America General Synod voted 171-56 in June to cease its publication.

Leaders will use an existing $240,000 budget to create a new publication that could be primarily online.

The Church Herald, prized by supporters for its editorial independence, saw its subsidy used in part to start RCA Today, a magazine published three times per year to promote the church’s growth goals.
