One year after Cyclone Nargis hit the Irrawaddy Delta in Myanmar (Burma), fishing families have boats, crab cages, fishing nets and other equipment, thanks to Action by Churches Together International.
The two fishermen (right) are unidentified for their protection. ACT, a global alliance to which the ELCA and the Lutheran World Federation belong, has provided food, tarps, farm tools, school kits and more to families in the delta.

My daughter will soon go to Myanmar, to support economic development, working with an NGO called Norwegian Peoples Aid. We plan to go and visit her and see the country. It is hard to help the people without supporting the government, but it appears that this article tells of an excellent example of such action. Is there a way to contact Action by Churches Together International or to connect with the church work being done there when we arrive in Myanmar ourselves?
