A part of my pastoral responsibilities is leading a weekly discussion group at a retirement center in Hudson, Ohio. One participant, an 88-year-old woman, has become an inspiration to me because she goes out for a walk — a three-mile walk — every day, except in the worst weather.
She obviously already knows what many today are touting about the benefits of walking as a way to health and wholeness. She goes her way, day after day. And probably doesn’t concern herself with the dos and don’ts, the ins and outs of the culture and commerce of the walking world.
