At Redeemer Lutheran, Park Ridge, Ill., members were involved in a “Don’t Go to Church ... Be the Church” program May 31.
Redeemer canceled worship services and sent out eight to 10 teams of people to do evangelism and service projects (nursing home visits, free car wash, soup kitchens, etc.), including donating a ton of Bibles (1,000 of them) to prisoners at Stateville Prison in Joliet, Ill.
The following Sunday they shared with one another “where we met God and found meaning and purpose in being the church together outside the walls,” said Fred J. Nelson, pastor.
