Prayer after New York shooting

Lutherans, Jews, Muslims and others gathered for a prayer vigil April 4 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Binghamton, N.Y., for 13 people killed by a gunman.

Redeemer is blocks away from the American Civic Association, where Jiverly Wong killed 13 people before taking his life.

“When something like this happens, we come together [as a] community and cling to our faith,” said Michele C. Fischer, pastor of Holy Nativity Lutheran Church, Endicott, N.Y.

Following the vigil people gathered for a reception to share stories.
