We live in the midst of your creation, a place folded and wrinkled, yet smoothed into a gentle grandeur ... in hollows and valleys we are your people, the work of your hand, a people rich in spirit and heritage." Seventy worshipers prayed those words at St. Johannes Lutheran Church, New Milton, W.Va., on Oct. 1 as they celebrated Appalachian Sunday. Their words were beautiful and oh, so true, no matter where you were in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America on that day.
