Nilton Giese, 49, a pastor of the Evangelical Church of the Lutheran Confession in Brazil, was named the general secretary of the Latin American Council of Churches in March.
He began serving in February 2008 as acting general secretary of the Quito, Ecuador-based group following the resignation of Israel Batista.
“National witness” and an action plan for the organization’s work will be a priority, Giese said.
