ELCA grad imprisoned in Iran

Roxana Saberi, a journalist and graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., has been held in an Iranian prison since January. She was recently sentenced to eight years in prison.

Saberi, 31, has filed reports from Tehran for National Public Radio, the BBC and other news outlets for six years. Iranian officials said they revoked her journalism credentials three years ago.

Saberi, who was scheduled to deliver Concordia’s May commencement address, grew up in Fargo, N.D., where she attended church events at Hope Lutheran.
