Thrifty helpers give $5 million

Sales at the West Valley Lutheran Thrift Shop, Sun City, Ariz., have added up — toaster by sport coat by book — over the 15 years since it was started.

So has support to the community, surpassing the $5 million mark this spring.

The funds were given to West Valley Lutheran New Mission Starts, several interfaith organizations and other community service groups.

Volunteers from local churches staff the shop.
