The Magazine of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Window on the church

It’s not unusual for a congregation to publish a cookbook or devotional for Advent or Lent.

But the altar guild at Trinity Lutheran Church, Des Plaines, Ill., had another idea.

They wanted to showcase their stained-glass windows depicting Christ’s life.

They called on a member who is a professional photographer, another who does layout and asked the pastor to match Scripture with the window panels.

The result is a hardcover book worthy of a coffee table.

As one member put it, “I learned so much about the windows that I look at every week in church.”
