TV skit angers Christians

Christians protested a comedy skit that aired recently on Israeli TV that portrayed the Virgin Mary as promiscuous and not a virgin.

The skit appeared on a show hosted by Lior Shlein, a popular Israeli comedian.

Roman Catholic bishops said the program’s content was “a symptom of greater problems disturbing the society, such as intolerance, refusal to accept and respect the other and inherent hatred.”

A Christian umbrella group threatened to sue and Shlein sent a letter of apology.
