'Thanksgiving' for torture ban
The National Religious Campaign Against Torture greeted President Barack Obama’s executive order of Jan. 22 with a prayer of “thanksgiving.”
It requires all U.S. interrogators to comply with the U.S. Army Field Manual regarding treatment of suspects and detainees.
The ELCA is among the members of the interreligious organization.
