Day of service

Since 1997, members of Grace Lutheran Church, Hendersonville, N.C., have set aside a spring Saturday for community service.

More than 100 members will spend April 25 landscaping, making home repairs and improvements, painting and preparing food for needy people nationwide.

The intergenerational effort has provided 10,000 volunteer hours since its inception.

Greg Williams, one of the pastors, said, “It is also a teaching day as our members serve others as Christ instructed us to do.”
