The Magazine of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Sushi, anyone?

Mark Samuelson, a pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Everett, Wash., will eat more than his words.

Samuelson told the congregation’s children he’d eat 1 pound of raw fish for every well they funded in Bangladesh.

For $1,000, Lutheran Health Care Bangladesh helps a community dig a 600-foot well. In January, with the children on their way to raising $2,000,

Samuelson called eating 2 pounds of raw fish an improvement over kissing a cow — a past promise met.
