Many Iowa families credit Lutheran Services in Iowa for making their hardships bearable as they recover from the tornadoes and floods of 2008.
LSI, affiliated with Lutheran Disaster Response, handles case management for 87 percent of the state’s recovery cases based on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s registrations.
Case advocates assist people in 14 counties.
Dennis Magee, whose home was in the path of a tornado, said, “What LSI provided most was the knowledge that people still care for us and are there for us.”
