Ishmael Noko, general secretary of the Lutheran World Federation, reached out to the new leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill.
In a letter, Noko told Kirill that the LWF looks forward to “better mutual understanding and common action to address the needs of our hurting world.”
Kirill succeeds Patriarch Alexei II, who led the church from 1990 until his death last December at age 79.
