Taken for a ride

daniel j. lehmann<BR><BR>The edifice is the most dazzling in the desert valley collection of ancient tombs and other buildings.

It was carved in first century B.C. as a tomb for an Arabian king, but was put to other uses by Romans and later rulers.

Petra was abandoned in the 14th century.
