Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, (Lutheran) Church of Sweden Archbishop Anders Wejryd and Bishop Wolfgang Huber, a leader of the Lutheran World Federation-member Evangelical Church in Germany, said the global financial crisis is a “historic opportunity” to bring about a low-carbon economy.
In December, the three urged European Union leaders to emulate U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, who pledged to invest $75 billion to create 5 million “green collar” jobs by 2020.
