New Anglican denomination

A coalition called the Common Cause Partnership announced the formation of an alternate denomination, an “emerging Anglican Church in North America.”

Proponents are unhappy with such moves as the Episcopal Church’s 2003 consecration of V. Gene Robinson, who is in a same-sex relationship, as bishop of the New Hampshire diocese.

The coalition represents 100,000 Anglicans from Canada and the U.S. — including four dioceses that left the Episcopal Church.

It could decide to follow a process to join the worldwide Anglican Communion.
