More ethnically diverse, more technologically savvy and more informal in worship — that’s how U.S. congregations have changed in the last eight years, according to a survey by the National Congregations Study.
The first was conducted in 1998.
But more members also are older with 30 percent at least 60 years old, up from 25 percent. And so are senior clergy, with 53 the average, up from 48.
