Women at First Lutheran Church, Tioga, N.D., decided their many years of making quilts were over.
Enter: the rookies. “A group of us decided it would be a shame to stop quilting, so we rounded up women willing to learn if someone could show us what to do,” said Linda Holmen.
One veteran in her 80s began tutoring last January, resulting in 90 blankets and many baby quilts—close to the 100 the women usually made for Lutheran World Relief.
