Ten years ago two Connecticut women started a prayer shawl ministry that has spread worldwide.
In 2004 Janice Schulz brought the idea to her church, Christ Lutheran, Heath, Ohio.
Since then 200 knitters have made 400 shawls.
They also make 3-by-5 inch pocket shawls — practical for those in intensive care or those wanting to hold something as they face daily treatment.
See The Taunton Press for a pattern for the pocket shawl.
