The Lutheran Festival of Writers, first held in 2007 at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, will now occur every three years, thanks to an endowment from the school.
English professor Carol Gilbertson, festival director, said the 250 participants came from 21 states and included students.
“I think it’s really valuable for students to hear visiting writers,” she said. “A lot of times we forget that writing is a vocation—that it is action to transform the world.”
