Ruth Ojiambo Ochieng, a Ugandan peace activist, told an international group of Christian communicators Oct. 9 that many countries do nothing to stop sexual violence in war.
Some African governments, she said, refuse to provide adequate health care for women raped and tortured by soldiers.
“It is a shock to see how those who hold power ... have marginalized women’s concerns and needs regarding sexual and reproductive health in post-conflict reconstruction processes,” she said.
