The Anglican Church of Canada’s House of Bishops agreed to delay to “the greatest extent possible” any action on same-sex blessings until its General Synod meets in 2010.
Dioceses in Ottawa, Montreal, Niagara and Huron have requested approval for such blessings.
Canada legalized same-sex civil marriages in 2005.
The bishops also agreed to resist “cross-border interventions” by conservative groups and to continue a moratorium on bishops in same-sex partnerships.
