Jews: Proselytizing offensive

A U.S. Jewish advocacy group denounced a call by the World Evangelical Alliance to continue proselytizing to Jewish people in Europe, calling it a “serious affront” to Jewish people.

“We urge the WEA to withdraw its call to target the Jews of Europe for conversion and immediately begin serious dialogue with Jewish interfaith representatives,” read a Sept. 5 statement from the New York-based Anti-Defamation League.

But David Parker, executive director of the WEA theological commission, said a “fair reading” of their call would see that it “condemns anti-Semitism, as well as deceptive and other dishonest forms of evangelism.”
