Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory, N.C., officially became Lenoir-Rhyne University Aug. 23, with a final vote of the college’s board of trustees.
After the vote, 1,000 students, employees, alumni and community members attended a public ceremony where the university’s new logo and seal were unveiled.
Andrew Weisner, campus pastor, blessed the university and offered a prayer.
A free picnic lunch followed, where students received free T-shirts and baseball caps with the new logo.
