Honorary Lutheran?

On the Sundays before and after the Democratic National Convention , Barack Obama chose ELCA churches at which to worship: First Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, Wis., on Aug. 24 and St. Luke Lutheran Church in Lima, Ohio, on Aug. 31.

There were two baptisms at First Lutheran, and interim Pastor John Kerr said the presidential nominee posed for photos with the families.

In Ohio, Lars Olson, pastor of St. Luke, didn’t mention Obama by name but did say there was a special guest present.

At both churches Obama stayed around to visit worshipers.
