Parking problems

First Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs has 2,000 members ... and 38 parking places, which means most Sunday worshipers and others who come to the various non-church programs hosted by the congregation during the week have to park on the streets.

Neighbors in the older neighborhood surrounding the church object, as many don’t have garages and consider the curb area in front of their homes their space—some even using yellow paint to create bogus no-parking zones.

Paul Peel, pastor, is taking complaints himself, telling parishoners: “Don’t argue [with homeowners]. Keep your car parked there and tell them you’ll convey their comments to the pastor.” Neighbors have brought the dispute to city planners.
