The church, at times, has a habit of asking the same people again and again for their help. I’ve seen many women and men over the years burn out trying to accede to these requests.
I’ve been burned out a few times myself. After heart surgery, I told our pastor I needed to cut back. Two weekends later a church leader insisted I co-chair a $1 million fund drive. My chore with the drive was successful but exhausting. “No” isn’t necessarily the right answer.
