The Vatican’s top official for Christian unity said same-sex blessings and consecrations of female or openly gay bishops undermine the Anglican-Roman Catholic dialogue.
Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, made his remarks to a German Roman Catholic news agency after speaking to Anglican bishops at the Lambeth Conference in Canterbury, England (see "Anglican bishops face challenge").
Female bishops “effectively and definitively [block] a possible recognition of Anglican Orders by the Catholic Church,” he said.
