In August, Sister Anne Keffer, directing deaconess of the Deaconess Community, and Sister Carolyn Hellerich presented the community’s annual tithe to the ELCA and to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.
They met with ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson to give him a check for $23,620.
The community has tithed to the two church bodies since 2005.
The annual unrestricted benevolence gift is 10 percent of the increase of the Deaconess Community’s net assets from the immediate prior year.
