Messiah Lutheran Church, Grand Island, Neb., is trying a new method of seeking relief from rising food costs: growing their own.
Volunteers are maintaining a new community garden across the street from the church, which has sections reserved for church youth and 10 area families.
Local businesses donated plants for the 2,000 square-foot garden, which Harvey J. Johnson, pastor of Messiah, said he hopes will bring a sense of community to the area.
