The Minnesota Supreme Court in May refused to take up an appeal of a case about guns and God—ending the five-year struggle over firearms in churches (April, "No guns, no set signs for Minnesota churches "). Edina [Minn.] Community Lutheran Church sued the state after the 2003 “conceal-carry” gun law. The church claimed that prohibiting religious groups from banning guns from their property is an unconstitutional infringement on religious freedom. Earlier this year the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled unanimously in favor of Edina Community.
