What do we do in the face of such unbelievable tragedies as the school shootings? We've had to construct too many modern wailing walls, complete with flowers, candles, messages, teddy bears and victims' pictures. The church has something to contribute to how we live as healthy diverse communities. We need to be leaders for rituals of grief and teachers of peace. Our regular rituals of prayer, proclamation and communion can help our society face its violence with realism, courage and resolve.
