The Magazine of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

The way we were: 1902?

Here's to you, class of 19-0 .... 2?

Confirmation class

Pastor Lorentz Henningsen and his wife, Anne Margarethe, pose with a confirmation class at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, Lake Benton, Minn.

The exact year of the confirmation is not known, but Henningsen served the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation from 1902 to 1905.

The Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church was an ancestor of the Lutheran Church of America, an ELCA predecessor. Diamond Lake merged with English Lutheran in 1969, forming Grace, an ELCA congregation in Lake Benton.
