Easter thoughts

Youth share their understanding of resurrection

This month as we think about Jesus’ death and resurrection, two youth share their thoughts on the subject.

Brigette Schuman, 11, is a lifelong member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Louisville, Ky. She is active in many of the congregation’s activities, including plays and other celebrations of Jesus’ life.

Recently Brigette had a chance to share with her mother, father and two sisters what she’s learning in Sunday school.

When their black bear hamster, Charcoal, died, the family held a funeral. Brigette’s father, Curtis Schuman, asked if anyone wanted to say anything over Charcoal’s remains.


Brigette did. She pulled a piece of paper from her pocket, unfolded it and read the following prayer:
