Porn images force Harvard dean's ouster

The ELCA pastor who resigned as dean of Harvard Divinity School was actually pressured to step down after officials found thousands of pornographic images on his school-owned computer, published reports said.

Ronald F. Thiemann resigned abruptly last fall, ending 13 years as dean of the Cambridge, Mass., school.

The Boston Globe reported that Thiemann was asked to resign "for conduct unbecoming a dean" after Harvard's computer department discovered the images on the equipment. The newspaper said the images weren't illegal and didn't depict children.

Thiemann, who went on a one-year sabbatical after his resignation, remains a tenured Harvard professor.
